Delicious grilled cheese recipes

Grilled cheese sandwiches are everyone’s favourite. They are perfect to eat for lunch or dinner, paired with soup, salad or fruit. I have three easy recipes that can be completed in 20 mins and are easy enough that children can participate in the preparation.

Be creative when choosing ingredients.

When making grilled cheese sandwiches you can choose from a variety of different breads and cheeses. In my recipes I chose a lovely rye bread, a nice hearty thick sliced “Texas Toast” and a plain sliced white bread. You can choose any bread than can hold up when sliced. I used cheddar and havarti cheese but any cheese you choose will work fine.

Classic Grilled Cheese

Bacon and Tomato

Caramelized Onions and Smoked Turkey

  • processed cheddar cheese
  • thick sliced Teaxas Toast white bread
  • Rye bread
  • tomatoes thinly sliced
  • bacon
  • jalapeno Havarti cheese
  • cheddar cheese
  • smoked turkey slices
  • caramelized onions
  • Havarti cheese
  • cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Generously butter two slices of bread on the outer sides
  2. Place the buttered side down on griddle or pan set to medium heat
  3. Apply cheese and any extra toppings you like
  4. Place the second slice of bread, butter side up
  5. Grill on both sides till golden brown, press down lightly with spatula
  6. Remove from grill, let rest for a minute, cut and serve
